Yarn Subscription Boxes - KnitCrate & YarnCrush

Hello my lovely crafters! Today I wanted to share with you a few unboxing videos I have done lately and introduce you to a couple of yarn subscription boxes.

I remember almost eight years ago when I thought of starting one of these up, it was the first thing that came to mind when I started seeing other monthly subscription boxes for nuts and alcohol lol, but the work involved in such a task meant it never came to light. I was too busy designing. Now, they seem everywhere! and finding out which are the best can be daunting, so here are a couple to wet your yarny taste buds to help give you an idea of what you can expect.

First on our list are the monthly subscription boxes by KnitCrate.

Now, with KnitCrate you can choose different boxes depending on your interests, which is super fun! You can choose an Artisan Crate, which includes;

- Skeins of premium yarn
- A Beginner & Intermediate/Advanced Pattern
- A Bonus Extra item
- Plus you'll receive exclusive promo codes

You can also choose something rather special called the Sock Crate!

The sock crate includes;

- A skein of premium sock yarn
- An awesome pattern to knit up
- A Bonus Extra item
- Plus you'll receive exclusive promo codes

POSITIVES: I love the choices between the two boxes and having a choice of payment plans too, so you can opt to pay for a one off box, a 3 month plan or a whole 12 month plan, with the latter getting cheaper. There website also has links to individual yarns and kits, tools and supplies as well as clubs and lots of offers, You can find out more here! So far I have been blown away by the quality of yarns in the boxes and the extra freebies, and the delivery has been really good from the US to the UK, no hold-ups in customs. The items arrived in an actual box so is well packaged too!

NEGATIVES: Can I include a typo of a designer's name? 😉 There aren't many negatives to be fair. I have only found slight confusion as to if the patterns were for crochet or knitting, but that could just be me being a bit slow. You do however require an internet connection to receive the patterns as they are online.

I have reviewed two of these boxes so far for June and July 2017, catch the videos below...

My second box choice is by Yarn Crush!

Yarn Crush are very similar, but what makes these guys different is that you can choose a theme for your box.

They have two main categories;

- Yarn Crush monthly (or bimonthly)
- Sock Crush monthly (or bimonthly),

but you can choose the following themes;
Cool, Warm, Neutral or Surprise Me, which sounds the most fun!

POSITIVES: Again like KnitCrate you can choose various payment options such as month by month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. with savings as you choose the more months, and I loved the fact the boxes were themed. Delivery was prompt too considering it came all the way from Canada (I think - slightly confused as postage said Belgium?). I also liked the fact that I could receive yarns from Canadian spinners, something that would be very difficult to discover otherwise here in the UK. You can also purchase their past boxes. The patterns were also printed and within the box.

NEGATIVES: Packaging let it down slightly as the boxes I received did not come in an actual box, but rather a delivery bag (albeit a very pretty one), other than that I can't think of many negatives. I did however give one of the patterns to a knitting friend who said it was a little confusing to understand, but that could just be a terminology issue.

I have reviewed two of these boxes so far for April and May 2017, catch the videos below...

So I hope that has inspired you to try out something new! I have to say it was super exciting to receive these in the post and have no idea what was inside. In both boxes the yarns were exceptional quality. If you would like to send me something to review and experience then do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.

Until then, happy crafting! and I will see you soon for some more crochet, crafty, unboxing fun!
