HappyBerryCrochet is on Instagram

It's official, I've finally made it to Instagram!

Well, I've actually been on Instagram for a few months, but I was using my hubby's phone as mine was something from the stone age, but it was proving very difficult to enjoy it to its full extent. I am happy to say that I have now been lucky enough to purchase my own smart phone and I have to confess I am enjoying the camera a lot! It is so handy to just catch a moment and then share it with you guys.

So my Instagram account is a wonderful way, as I now live on there, to get in touch with me! It is also where I share behind the scene photos of what I am currently working on designing, as well as my travels out and about. You can get so many sneak peeks, but also catch up on previous designs of mine that you may not know about.

I do hope you will pop by and say hello if you have Instagram yourself. You can find me at https://www.instagram.com/happyberrycrochet See you there! (^-^)

Video Tutorial - Arms and Hair

Written Pattern - Arms and Hair

Arm (make two)

Round 1
Ch4, sl st in first ch to form a loop, crochet 6sc into loop, do not join round - (6)

Alternatively you can work the magic loop and crochet 6sc into a magic loop

Rounds 2 - 4
1sc in ea st around - (6)

Round 5
*2sc in next st, 1sc in next 2 sts* rep from * once more - (8)

Rounds 6 - 24
1sc in ea st around - (8)

Finish by stuffing your arm up to the hand using some blunt scissors. Fasten off and sew onto body. Repeat steps 1-24 for second arm.

Hair

Step 1
Take your hair colour and cut 60-70 strands measuring how long you want your hair to be from one side to the other. The centre of your yarn strand will be at the top of the head.

Step 2
Cut a really long strand of the same hair colour and place it vertically down on a table. Now place your 60-70 strands on top horizontally (you can also add them 2-3 at a time if easier), making sure the vertical strand is in the middle.

Step 3
Make a slip knot on your hook and take 2-3 strands of your hair yarn, and placing your hook over them hook the long vertical piece of yarn and work a slip stitch, catching the 2-3 strands as you do so. Take another 2-3 strands and repeat process until you can slip stitch all the way across your hair strands in the centre. See video if unsure.

Step 4
Place the long tail end of your long strand at the front of your doll's head. Sew along your slip stitched seam, catching and joining the head as you do to secure. Now sew back up along one side of your seam, and again back down to the base of the neck on the opposite side of your seam. This extra sewing secures the strands even more and stops them from being pulled out as much.

Step 5
You can leave your hair like this if happy, which works well for plaits, but for better coverage fold over one set of your strands to the other side and hide your seam. Repeat steps 1-5 again for the opposite side, making sure to sew very close to your previous seam.

Pause your work here and tune in next week for Episode 4 Dress Pattern!
